My Experience

V360XR – Graduate XR Artist (Manchester, 2025)

During my time at V360XR, I worked as a Graduate XR Artist contributing to real‑world extended reality (XR) training solutions designed to enhance safety, skills development, and workplace performance. V360XR specialises in immersive VR and AR experiences tailored for industries where realistic, interactive training is essential, including safety‑critical sectors such as construction, logistics, and technical operations.

In this role I was involved in the development of real‑time 3D environments and assets for use in XR training simulations, focusing on performance, optimisation, and visual fidelity — all within the constraints of standalone head‑mounted devices.

 

Key contributions:

Real‑time 3D asset creation: Modelled, UV‑mapped, and textured a wide range of environment assets and props using industry‑standard tools, ensuring they met XR performance targets.

 

Performance optimisation: Applied techniques such as level‑of‑detail (LOD) generation, texture budgeting, and efficient material setup to ensure smooth rendering on standalone VR/AR hardware where resource limits are strict.

 

Scene assembly in Unreal Engine 5: Integrated assets into XR environments, set up lighting and post‑processing, and configured scenes to balance visual quality with runtime performance.

 

Collaborative workflows: Worked closely with designers, developers, and technical directors to align creative vision with technical feasibility, iterating on deliverables based on feedback and performance testing.

 

Immersive experience focus: Helped support interaction logic and spatial design considerations that enhance usability and immersion in training scenarios built on the platform.

This experience strengthened my ability to build high‑quality, optimisation‑focused content for real‑time XR applications and gave me practical exposure to production practices used in enterprise‑grade immersive development.
